Aug. 13 law student orientation to emphasize ethics, professionalism Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr. will emphasize ethics and professionalism in his Aug. 13 address to law students entering Mississippi College School of Law. Chief Justice Waller, MCSOL Dean James Rosenblatt and Mississippi Bar President Guy Mitchell III will speak at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 13 during an orientation program on the second floor of the B. C. Rogers Student Center on the Mississippi College campus in Clinton. Chief Justice Waller said, “I want to emphasize the importance of lawyers adhering to the highest ethical standards possible in providing legal services for the citizens of the state and nation.” Starting at 10 a.m., more than 50 judges and lawyers from across the state will serve as facilitators for small group discussions with students. The breakout sessions look at hypothetical ethical dilemmas which lawyers may face. A luncheon for students, judges, lawyers and faculty is set for noon to 1 p.m. The annual James O. Dukes Law School Professionalism Program is sponsored by the Mississippi Bar as part of orientation for students entering law school. The program is named in honor of its founder, the late James O. Dukes of Gulfport, a former Mississippi Bar president. The Bar will present its annual professionalism program at the University of Mississippi School of Law on Aug. 22. #### |
